First Visit

The first appointment is dedicated to getting to know YOU! We will ask many questions: about you, about your medical history, about past dental experiences, about your dental expectations and concerns, and about your habits. We will take x-rays and pictures of your teeth. We will evaluate your smile. There will be an in-depth examination of your teeth, gums, soft tissue, jaws and jaw joints, supporting bone and existing dental work.

Once we have reviewed all this information we will discuss with you our preliminary findings. If your dental health is good and treatment needs are minimal, we can make recommendations and schedule treatment at this first appointment. If, however, your dental needs are more complex, we will schedule a free consultation appointment with you. The consultation will be a conversation where your dental needs and treatment options will be discussed.

We want you to feel comfortable throughout this get acquainted process. We are here to serve you. We invite you to bring your spouse, loved one, or friend to these initial appointments.

A Child’s First Visit

We encourage parents to allow children between the ages of 2-3 to accompany them to their dental cleanings. This gives us the opportunity to introduce the child to dentistry in a fun way. Once we get to know your child, we can determine what the next step will be for them. Some children surprise their parents and are eager to have their cleaning and exam right away. For more apprehensive children, we take things more slowly. We may start with just an exam. No matter what your child’s needs are, we want to establish a very positive relationship with them so that they look forward to their visits to the dentist.
